April Bradshaw, COA
A lifelong resident of Western North Carolina, April has worked in the medical field for over fifteen years. In 2006 she returned to college life and graduated with honors in 2010 from UNCA with a BS in Health and Wellness Promotion. With a passion for helping others, she pursued a career in ophthalmology in 2012. Continuing her education, she completed the Certified Ophthalmic Assistant certification in 2014. During her spare time, April enjoys the outdoors by hiking with her dachshunds Roscoe and Roxie, gardening, and spending time with family.
Heather Byrnside, OCS, OSC
A lifelong resident of Western North Carolina, Heather graduated from Blue Ridge Community College with a Medical Office Certificate. She has been employed in Ophthalmology since 2005, serving a variety of roles, both clinical and billing. Heather furthered her certification as Certified Ophthalmic Scribe while working at Laborde Eye Group, and most recently earned the designation of Ophthalmic Coding Specialist through the professional organization, JHACPO. Multi-talented, with an easygoing personality, Heather is currently a billing specialist at Laborde Eye Group. She also assists in the clinic when needed. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and attending sports events with her two children.
Erin joined LEG as one of our front desk receptionists, but in short order became our resident comedienne and ukulele player! She brings a zest for working with the public and helps put our patients at ease when they check in for appointments. She has quickly learned the specialized language of ophthalmology and is eager to help whatever the assignment. Erin originally hails from the Boston area, but she and her husband are loving western North Carolina and feel they have made a permanent move.
Donna V. Bradley, Billing Specialist
Donna Bradley joined Laborde Eye Group in the fall of 2016. A native of Black Mountain and former Navy wife, she has lived in Great Lakes, IL, Key West, Florida, and Charleston, SC. After settling back in WNC in 1994, she has worked in finance and administrative positions including construction, property and casualty insurance and medical billing. She brings to our staff several years of experience in hospice and physician billing. In her spare time she enjoys quilting, home decorating, camping and trips to the beach with her husband. She also cherishes spending time with her two grown children who also live in Hendersonville.
Amy Cox, Billing
Amy Cox joined the Laborde Eye Group team in the fall of 2014. As a current military wife, she has lived on the coasts of our nation, from Florida to Hawaii! She is happy to be settled now in western North Carolina with her two children and husband. With her certifications and credits at two different community colleges, Amy brings experience in customer service, account management, and best practices in billing to our practice. During time off, Amy enjoys creative pastimes as well as theater and reading. Traveling more is in her future when her children get older.
Brianna Johnson, Surgery Coordinator
Brianna Johnson is a native of Henderson County and a 2003 graduate of North Henderson High School. Her cheery disposition and positive attitude make her a welcomed addition to our office staff since February of 2013. Capable in many capacities, Brianna is now our surgery coordinator; that is, she works with all patients to schedule surgeries, walks them through the process, answers questions, prepares paperwork, coordinates with the hospitals, and makes the follow-up post-operative appointments. In her free time, Brianna enjoys camping with her family and spending time with her husband, young daughter, and baby boy.
Susan has lived in Hendersonville since 1991. Together with her husband Robert, Susan raised three daughters, all graduates of HHS. Ms. Laborde, prior to moving to North Carolina, was an educator, teaching high school and middle school English for twelve years. She holds a BS and MA degree from Louisiana State University. At present, she serves as the practice coordinator for Laborde Eye Group. Ms. Laborde concentrates on patient education, community outreach and service, as well as office and financial responsibilities.
Active in community affairs, she has served with various county non-profits, including Helping Hand Developmental Center, Children and Family Resource Center, both local hospital foundations, Flat Rock Playhouse Foundation, The Arts Council of Henderson County, and the Land O’ Sky Garden Club. When time allows, Ms. Laborde is an avid gardener, competitive tennis player, and enjoys traveling.
Marie-France Lachance has been part of the Laborde Group since April 2015 in the initial capacity of Patient Financial Services Specialist with subsequent promotion from Specialist to Manager.
Career growth is measured from over 25+ years of experience in patient financial services, practice management, consulting, in settings such as private practice, medical specialty groups, university medical school, corporate healthcare business administration. This also included ownership of a medical billing and practice administration company for over ten years.
A Nursing degree interrupted by the Vietnam Conflict, her Education includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Technology, a Registered Healthcare Underwriter (RHU) insurance designation, a pending additional insurance designation of Registered Employee Benefit Consultant (REBG), and all lines Insurance Adjusters License, and an Agent licensed in Life, Health & Variable Annuities Insurance.
Personal interest includes music, golf, art, cuisine, literature, and life as a whole.
Krista Marshall, COT, Clinic Manager
Krista is a native of Henderson County. She has been in the ophthalmology field since 1997 and currently serves as Clinic Manager for the Laborde Eye Group. Krista has worked closely with Dr. Laborde for 15 years. In 2006, she was the recipient of the JCAHPO scholarship award and now holds her COT, Certified Ophthalmic Technician. In August of 2007, she was a charter member of the Hendersonville Evening Lions Club where she served as Secretary. In 2008 she had the privilege of being a spokesperson for Park Ridge Hospital as they expanded their hospital with a state of the art obstetrics floor and surgery suites. She supports Unite For Sight, which is an organization helping restore sight to thousands across the world annually. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and playing the violin.
Janette Helton, COA
A native of Asheville, Janette joined the LEG team with a great deal of optometric experience and has been eager to learn more about ophthalmology and the treatment for cataracts, glaucoma, and retinal diseases. She is devoted to her family, siblings, and her blue nose pitbull. When possible, Janette is out of doors, hiking, and playing with her pets. After just a few months at LEG, she is considering studying for her COT certification. She has a great work ethic and enjoys meeting so many interesting patients working with Dr. Capps as scribe and ophthalmic assistant.
Kristin Parker, COA, Retinal Photographer and Angiographer
A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Kristin Parker has lived in North Carolina most of her adult life. She has worked in the field of Ophthalmology for more than fifteen years and earned her COA in 2006. During her career, she developed a passion for the technique and technology of ophthalmic photography and retinal angiography, but what she enjoys most about her job is helping people. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling with her husband Terry and spending time with her daughter and young granddaughter and adorable rescue puppies.
Tamara Pruett, COA
A native of Asheville, Tamara is a great addition to Laborde Eye Group and brings her special enthusiasm to patient care every day. After working in Optometry for over ten years, Tamara shifted to Ophthalmology and has been with LEG for two years. Her main hobbies are being with her young family (son 5 and daughter 2) and her husband. She also enjoys playing softball on her co-ed team. Tamara is an active member of The Rock Church, a contemporary family-centered congregation in Candler, NC.
Amanda Branch, a native North Carolinian, born in Sylva, NC and has lived most of her adult life in Asheville. “Mandy” has worked in the healthcare industry for over 10 years. During that time, she became interested in the field of Ophthalmology and eye care in particular. She assists our physicians as a tech who tests the patients and records all pertinent information. When not in the office, Mandy loves to fish, spend time with her daughter, and watch the NFL.
